Joke Box Using the Picoboard

Create an interactive sound effect to use after all of your jokes! Bah Dum Chu...

I am a student at Llano ISD. This activity is meant for students starting on the Picoboard.

What you need:

  • The PicoBoard from The Playful Invention Company (PICO)
  • Scratch 1.4 (You can't use Scratch 2.0 yet)
  • A computer with Mac OS X 10.4 or later, Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7 or 8 or Ubuntu 12.043 or later
  • The alligator clips that come with the PicoBoard

Plug in the Picoboard

Plug your Picoboard into the USB port on the front of your computer.

*You must have Scratch 1.4 to be able to Program the Picoboard. You can download it here.

Plug in Your "A" Port

Plug the alligator clip into the "A" port on the board.

You will also be using the slider and button for this activity.

Here is example code for using sound with the Picoboard. You can change which sound effect is used and add more alligator clips to your board for more options. Enjoy!
