Jurassic Park Props

WP_20141115_009.jpg

Jurassic Park is one of my favorite movie ever. I wanted to pay tribute to this film while respecting my budget. I identified several items that can be found in the trilogy and I started. Hope you will like it!

I speak french so there might be English mistakes. Sorry in advance.

Brochure

Material :

  • Glossy Paper
  • Scotch tape
  • Scissor

The simpliest prop from Jurassic Park is the brochure. Why? Because internet give us the entire model of the brochure (in the attach files). So, I took few glossy papers and I printed the model on multiple pages because I only have regular 8'' 1/2 x 11'' pages. Then, I attach, with scotch tape, all the parts and I fold everything correctly.

Material:

  • Sticker sheet (or normal sheet)
  • Aluminium sheets
  • Scissor
  • Drill

I wanted my plate to be as realistic as possible. I took aliminium sheets and I cut according to the standarts of a valid license plate (6 '' × 12 ''). I made 2 layers. Then I glued the two layers and I drilled holes in the correct places. I bought a sticker sheet (11 '' x 17 '') and I printed a model plate from jurassic park. I apply the sticker sheet on my aliminium.

Note: I make a worn effect by rubbing some metal on my sheet.

There is a lot of badges in Jurassic Park. I give you some models, but it is possible to find plenty of them on the internet. First, print all the badges and then, laminate them. Finally, cut everything according to your need and don't forget the holes to hang them.

Material:

  • Old can
  • can opener
  • Glue
  • My model
  • Painting tools (Acrylic paint)

One of the main props of Jurassic Park! It was really hard to find a Barbasol can with this design. After much research, I stopped and I realized that I could do it myself for only 0$! I took an old can (11 oz), I emptied what was left inside and I removed the paper/plastic design. Using a can opener, I removed the bottom part.

I made a model of the Barbasol design can from the movie (I'm nice so i'm giving it to you ;) ). I printed it on glossy paper and glue it to my can. To paint the top of the can I used the color Navy Blue.

So, for this step I used :

  • Cardboard
  • Normal paper
  • Vials from ebay (Image)
  • Painting
  • Hot glue
  • Old Sharpie

1. First step is to cut everything in cardboard according to a model.

For the top part I cut the top of an old Sharpie.(they are some little similarities)

My Model

2. After everything is done in cardboard, Paper Mache your Cryo Can.

Make the holes for the vials with an hole punch. (the only efficient way I found to ''drill'' the holes properly)

3. Then, paint your cryo can in the colors of your choice. (Chrome and Oxblood)

4. Glue everything (and don't forget to glue the cryo with the bottom part of your can)

5. Print the sticker for the vials (use text editor like Word). Fill the vials with water and some food coloring or paint.

6. Place the vials correctly.

Resonating Chamber

Unfortunately, I don't have a 3D printer, I had to find another way to make the resonating chamber of a velociraptor. The only way I've found to do this is : clay. The clay is cheap, easy to handle and I admit that it's fun to play with. Clay only cost me $ 5 and I still have half of it.

So as you'll see in the pictures, I started to make a "draft" with the clay. After that, I just added the details according to some pictures I found on the internet. It is more simple than you think!

Note : It was my first time with clay and surely not my last.
