Kalel Hernandez's Special Cinnamon Rolls
This is the recipe for delicious cinnamon rolls, my grandmother used to make rolls similar to these but i like to think i've made them better over time.
Supplies
Dough:
for the dough your going to need
1 1/4 cup of milk at slightly warm temperature (i use raw milk but any kind works)
2 1/4 tsp or 1 pkg of yeast (instant dry yeast works the best)
2 1/4 cup of sugar
1 large egg preferably at room temperature
1/4 cup of butter(if the butter is unsalted ad 3/4 tsp of salt)(if the butter is salted then dont add salt)
3 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
that's it you are all done with the dough
Cinnamon filling:
1 1/2 cups of any kind of sugar
2 tbsp of cinimon
Goo:
Now what makes these so special is their golden goey top for the goo you will need
3/4 stick of butter
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of maple syrup. you can make more goo if your in the mood for more
The Dough
the first step is the dough
measure out all the ingredients and throw them in a bowl stir the dough till it feels ready to knead, when it feels ready put the dough on a clean surface to knead and play with it till it is smooth this process should take 5 minutes. now transfer the dough to an oiled bowl and cover the top with plastic wrap or a wet napkin to let the dough rise for 2 hours.
The GOO
Add the butter in a saucepan with the sugar and syrup and let it melt while slowly stirring it then pour it into a greased pan preferably around 9x13 and set it to the side
The Filling
the filing is pretty straightforward you just put it in a small bowl and mix it up
The Assembly
For this part your gonna want to remove the plastic wrap or napkin and put the dough that sat there for 2 hours on your floured workspace. you need to kneed the dough to then roll it out. on the rolled out dough you spread the cinnamon sugar filling. after the filling is well distributed you want to roll the dough tightly longways to have a nice long roll. you then cut this roll into 12 pieces these pieces are your rolls, now you go back to your goo filled 9x13 pan and carefully place your rolls in the pan one by one. once you have the rolls placed let them grow for 2 hours.
The Heat
for this step your going to want to preheat your oven to 350 degrees and butter the top of the rolls so they don't get dry, place them in the oven anywhere from 25-45 minutes after about 20 minutes check on them every few minutes. once the rolls have a golden color you can take them out the oven.
The Flip
once the rolls are done let them cool for 15 minutes to then flip them so the goo is on the top.
Enjoy
this is the step were you eat and share with your family
