Keep Your Sink Compartment Organized.

Easy project with a great value!

Start by measuring the size of the compartment.

This frame you are about to build should fit in the compartment nicely.

At my place, it is behind one door of the two doors compartment which I have under the sink.

You will need to build an L shape frame with an extra lower wall facing the high leg of the L, I used 15 cm for the lower wall.

The L shape frame will hold the two drawers.

I used glue and nails to hold the L shape walls together.

Build a simple box according to the size of your compartment. Keep in mind you have to calculate the correct width of the drawer so that the rails with fit properly.

I made this drawer in the size of 15x15x5 cm in the length (depth) of the L shape frame.

If you already know what you will place in this upper drawer, make sure you build it in the appropriate size (Trash bin bags roll for example...)

Attach the lower drawer rails to the frame and to the lower drawer sides. (usually a set of rails comes with some explanations and the measurements to use). Make sure the lower drawer fits and slides in and out correctly.

Attach the rails to the upper drawer on the outside of the taller wall, make sure they are perfectly parallel.

(I placed a piece of wood between them when I attached the lower rail, to keep it parallel to the upper one)

I used other rails than the white ones in the above picture because they did not hold the drawer. I used Rails where both sides never get apart from one another. It is a bit tricky to attach them but the below worked well for me:

Turn the L shape frame 90 to the left so that the tall wall of the L will be flat on the table.

Place the upper drawer in place and adjust it position until the top of the higher wall of upper drawer is aligned with the top of the L shape frame.

Pressing down on the upper drawer towards the frame, you should be able to slide it without moving the rails. Make sure it goes correctly in the required direction.

In the same way you can expose the inner side of the rails that should be attached to the L shape frame.

Now you can attache the rail to the L shape frame. Make sure the screws you use don't stand in the way of the rail when it slides back in.

If needed, do the same pressing and sliding of the drawer to expose the opposite end of the rails.

I suggest you to add something to protect the wood of the drawers from liquids.
