Key Lime PI
Welcome to Pie central!! Today you’ll learned how to make an easy and fun way to make Key Lime Pie. With fresh lime and a home made gram cracker crust. This is a summer time favorite! As a child I grew up learning how to make a Key Lime pie for my dad. Its his favorite and he can eat lots of it.
Prep time: 25 mins
Cook time: 15 mins
Cooling time: 40 mins
(Optional) Decorating time: 10 mins
Total: 1 hr 30 mins
Supplies
Pie Filling:
3 cups sweetened condensed milk
½ cup sour cream
¾ cup key lime juice
1 tablespoon grated lime zest
Pie Crust:
1 ½ cups finely ground graham cracker crumbs
⅓ cup white sugar
6 tablespoons butter, melted
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (Optional)
Making Pie Crust
Step 1:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Step 2:
- Mix graham cracker crumbs, sugar, melted butter or margarine, and cinnamon until well blended.
Step 3:
- Press mixture into an 8 or 9 inch pie plate.
Step 4:
- Bake for 7 minutes.
Step 5:
- Let chill in fridge for 20 mins
Making Pie Filling
Step 1:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Step 2:
- In a medium bowl, combine condensed milk, sour cream, lime juice, and lime rind.
Step 3:
- Mix well and pour into graham cracker crust.
Step 4:
- Bake in preheated oven for 5 to 8 minutes, until tiny pinhole bubbles burst on the surface of pie.
Step 5:
- Let chill for 20 mins in the fridge
Finishing Touches (optional)
Garnish with whip cream (from the store) and slices of limes.
