Kicked-Up Half & Half
Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by! One of my favorite drinks in the summer or year-round actually is half-and-half. For those of you that are unfamiliar, I don't mean the stuff you put in coffee, its a tasty blend of iced tea and lemonade. With some minor alterations, you can use it as a base for a easy and refreshing summer cocktail.
Ingredients and Supplies
For this drink you will need a few supplies. Depending on the size of the batch, you will need varying amounts of ingredients. I made a quart of the mix to drink over the course of the day. The good news is that you can scale the amounts to suit your needs.
You will need
- Half-and-Half drink mix
- Vodka
- Lemons
- Water
- Ice
- Knife
- Cutting board
- Measuring cup
- Spoon
Make the Half-and-Half
The first step is to make the regular drink. I used the countrytime mix following the ratios on the container. However, it is important to add just a little bit extra so the mix does't get over powered by the alcohol. If you have your own recipe for iced tea and lemonade feel free to use them instead.
Add Your Mixer
In this step you will be adding your liquor. Depending on how strong you want your drink to be you can vary the amount of vodka you add. For just a little bit of a kick, the proportion that works well is 8 part drink mix to 1 part vodka. If you want something a bit stronger, the ratio is 4 to 1.
Add the Lemons
To really give your drink a little tartness, cut up a lemon and add that to the mix. If you don't have whole lemons, you can substitute with just a touch of lemon juice.
Enjoy!
Now just sit back and enjoy your refreshing beverage. You can garnish your glass with a slice of lemon or a touch of sugar on your glass.
