Kids No-Sew Tunic
If you want an easy way to sew a shirt, or tunic for someone, then here's a simple way to do it! Transform a piece of fabric into a sleeveless tunic for you, a friend, or a family member!
Supplies
You will need:
- Fabric
- Scissors
- Permanent marker
Measuring the Width of the Tunic
First, wrap your fabric around the person. Add a couple extra inches to the width and mark a line on the cloth so that it's the width that you want.
Measuring the Length of the Tunic
Next, find the desired length of your shawl and mark it as you did in the last step.
Cutting Your Fabric
After measuring and drawing the lines on your fabric, cut on the lines so that you have a rectangle or square piece of cloth.
Cutting the Tie Strips of Your Fabric
After cutting the shape of the tunic, cut 2 and 1/2 inches deep strips along one of the long sides
of the fabric. The strips should be spaced 1 inch apart.
Tying Your Strips
Next, fold the fabric in half, and double tie all the strips so that it looks like the first picture above.
Cutting the Arm Hole Loops
Now that you have finished cutting the strips and tying them, cut loops on the opposite side so that it looks like the picture above. Cut them each about 1 inch apart, and 2 and 1/2 inches deep.
Folding Your Sleeveless Tunic
After you have finished measuring, cutting, and tying your tunic, fold the tunic into itself until it's folded in half.
Untying the Arm Hole
When you put the tunic over the person, poke the first arm through the side with the loops. On the knotted side, untie a few of the knots where the arm would go through. Do this so that it hangs through both layers of the fabric tunic.
Finishing the Sleeveless Tunic
Now that you have poked the persons arms through the tunic, let them enjoy wearing it!
Hope that you enjoyed this instructable and that it can get put to good use!
