Kitchen Haters EZ Banana Bread

title.jpg

This Instructable will show how to whip an EZ loaf of Banana Bread. This Instructable goes out to all of you who hate being in the kitchen, but have families that LOVE Banana Bread!

First of all, you should know that I do not pride myself on being a good baker or cook. I'm not very fond of the kitchen, but I do have a husband and kids to feed so I have managed to secure a few easy and requested recipes.

Literally, if I can do this then anyone can! It typically only takes me 15 minutes to whip up and 1 hour to bake, so I am not wasting too much time in the kitchen.

NOTE: Instructables has become a family affair at the DIYWATERDOG household. This one was actually created by Mrs. DIYWATERDOG and DIYWATERDOG Jr.

Below are some other family collaborative projects.

Gather up these delicious ingredients. If bananas go uneaten in the house, that is usually a sign the family is saying it is time for a loaf of banana bread.

3/4 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 c. softened butter

1 c. sugar

2 large eggs

3 ripe bananas

1/3 c. vanilla yogurt

1 tsp vanilla

optional ingredients:

1/2 c. crushed walnuts

1/2 c. chocolate chips

Cooking Spray

First cream together the softened butter and sugar with mixer. Add one egg at a time beating in between. Add bananas, yogurt and vanilla and mix until creamy. Set aside mixture.

Dry Ingredients

In your other bowl, mix the dry ingredients of flour, salt and baking soda. Mix gently with a whisk and set aside.

Adding Dry to Wet

Slowly add your dry ingredients to your wet ingredients, mixing a little in between. Only mix until the flour is all moist.

Chocolate Chips

IMG_2904.JPG

I find that if you put the chocolate chips in whole they will sink to the bottom. If you chop them up a little they are smaller and seem to float better in the bread.

Chocolate Chips and Walnuts

Add your chocolate chips and walnuts to bread mix if you so desire. The banana bread is still just as good without these two ingredients. Mix gently with a spoon and pour into a greased bread pan.

Taste Test

IMG_2909.JPG

I should mention that my son who is 8 years old likes to help make the bread. His reward of course is to taste test the batter. Yum!

Baking

IMG_2912.JPG

Put your bread pan in the preheated oven at 350 degrees F and allow it to bake for 60 minutes.

Baked and Ready

You can test your bread to make sure it is done by dipping the knife into the middle to make sure it does not come out with wet mixture on it. Remember that the bread will continue to bake a few minutes once you remove it from the oven.

Chomp - Much - Pick - Enjoy!

My family typically does not let the bread cool for too long before they are demanding a slice. They like it with a cold glass of milk. I can't stress enough how easy this bread is and how much my family enjoys it. They actually request I make it, and I can tell you they do not have many favorites of mine to request.

If you are a Kitchen Hater, give this a try. If you hate the kitchen give Mrs. DIYWATERDOG a vote for not only getting into the kitchen, but for sharing her story.
