Knex Halo 2/4 Battle Rifle Replica.
Update 12/16/12: In light of Halo 4's new battle rifle, which has angles and curves this replica doesn't match, I am here to make a note that this was supposed to be based off of halo 2's BR. Due to a recent comment, I have updated the title as well as add this note to reflect the new game's release.
Behold, possibly the best knex Halo Battle Rifle replica ever made in terms of looks.
Unfortunately, it has a few downsides. The mech doesn't work first of all. I have other things I want to do, I've been working on this for over a month now, and I don't want this project to go to pot because it looks so damn good. So here is what I am going to do:
I will post instructions for the gun "As is". If anyone wants to fix it and make it work, be my guest.
In the meantime, I'm touting this as a non-firing model with parts of a mechanism in it.
NOTE: Building your improved version in metallics is optional.
Here's a video of it:
The Front Bit.
1. Make this layer.
2- Layers 2-4 on layer 1.
3- Close up on layer 3. It's built a bit differently near the front.
4-6: Make the front barrel. It's a bit tricky, be careful.
7- Connect the barrel to layer 3.
8- Add this little bit. It makes the assembly sturdier.
9- Make the grip thingy
10- Add it to the rest of the gun
11- Add in another layer 1 and this is what you get. Move onto the next step.
Top Rail.
1- Build 2 of these outer layers.
2- An outer layer with innards.
3- close-up on the rear.
4- Close up on the front innards.
5- finished rail
6- how to connect to the front bit.
Also note there is a setup in the back that is there to make the gun have more realistic angles. I forgot to take pictures of it, so here's a video instead. Skip to 1:25 and watch from there to 1:45 to see how it's made. The video is an old, incomplete version of this gun but it's still the same:
Scope.
Stock.
1- Make 2 of what's pictured.
2- filler stuff.
3- close-up on trigger
4- The angled bit on the stock
5- The final thing.
Trigger.
1- The front of the trigger
2- The back. Please leave the orange connector disconnected on one side.
3- How the trigger actually stops the ratchet from turning. Note the use of spacers.
4- Picture 3 with the rod removed
5- the top rail off so you can see it's a double-ratchet.
Handle.
1- The bit the handle connects to (Includes trigger guard)
2- the handle itself.
3- Combine.
4- Connect to gun.
Video of me constructing the handle:
Mag
1- The mag
2- one side removed.
Have fun showing off your new knex Halo Battle Rifle!
Knexsuperbulderfreak's Version (Firing).
This is my version i took all these pictures to help others make it. Although the rail is a bit too short but other than that it's fine.
IMO, it looks like the halo reach DMR now, minus a few details on the barrel. -DJ
