this knex gun has a new style barrel and ram, but unfortunately a block trigger. dont start criticizing me for old stuff, because i created a new style of gun barrel. the handle is ergonomic, but mostly depending on what size hand you have.

anyways...

this is my first knex instructable so hope you like it! reply and tell me how it is, and inform me of any things i can improve on.

also...

in each step, a description of the part will be supplied and so will the number of pieces needed for that specific part. this will allow easy construction and fast building.

The NEW Barrel

in this step you will construct the barrel. it is a new style of barrel and thought it up because knex guns need a new age.

you will need:

27 special grey connectors*
3 grey/black rods

  • throughout this instructable, the special grey connectors are shown in two different colours: grey and purple. however, at some/most times the purple looks like blue, so just to clarify things.

in addition...

some parts may be substituted for whatever reason, but for the barrel and trigger, most pieces MUST be the same.

- get 14 grey connectors and attach them to a grey rod, open space facing in
- get 13 grey connectors and do the same, leaving a space about 5 connectors down
- connect the two in the middle with a grey rod, so the open space is formed like a barrel.

The Sides

this is the part that connects to the barrel. it is for decoration and elastics purposes.

you will need:

26 special grey connectors
2 grey rods
2 green connectors
1 ball connector
1 connector ball
3 random pieces to fill the space (interchangeable pieces)

- get 12 grey connectors and attach them to a grey rod
- connect the random pieces, green connector, and the ball connectors to the rod as shown
- get 14 grey connectors and connect them so there is a space inbetween each one
- attach the green connector the same place it is one the other side

The Trigger

this is another block trigger, but i have been working on a new barrel NOT a new trigger. so dont yell at me. i am incapable of creating a new trigger.

you will need:

2 blue spacers
2 black half connectors
2 grey special connectors
2 white rods
1 green connector
1 yellow connector

- connect the yellow connector to the white rod to the green connector then white rod then two grey connectors
- attach the rest to the white rods

The Ram

Instructables Photos 027.jpg
Instructables Photos 028.jpg
a new ram for a new barrel. it uses three rams put together as one. you will need tape for this step.

you will need:

3 black/grey rods
2 grey special connectors
1 blue full circle special connector
1 white rod
1 blue rod

- more or less self-explanatory... but
- attach the grey and blue connectors with three grey/black rods
- attach the connectors with blue and white rods

The Ergonomic Hand Grip

Instructables Photos 030.jpg
the ergonomic hand grip fits my hand very well. it also bends slightly for customized comfort, but bending too much will cause it to break.

you will need:

16 grey special connectors
3 white rods
2 yellow rods
2 blue spacers
1 blue full circle special connector
1 yellow connector

- attach 8 special connectors on a yellow rod, do this two times
- attach the two together with a yellow connector and blue special connector
- remember to put two blue spacers inbetween the connectors at the top
- the finger mount is unnecessary but it helps me.

attach everything together and it should fit into place if you follow the pictures.

you will need:

the Trigger
the Barrel
the Sides
the Ram
the Ergonomic Handle Grip

(sorry for the massive amounts of pictures)

*there should be about 3-4 pics for each step, just for a better look at things*

- connect the trigger to the space in the barrel where i mentioned before. dont forget to use the blue spacers so the trigger wont move around.
- the sides should fit into every other space at the sides of the barrel. it should connect with ease.
- slide in the ram from the end nearest to the trigger. it should fit snugly.
- attach the handle to the side without the trigger, and adjust it to your personal preference. i made it so the space in the handle is lined up with the trigger. your index finger should rest on the white rods to make it more comfortable (for me anyways)

(sorry for the scrambled pictures, something got screwed up)

Attaching the Elastics

sort of self-explanatory, but this will show you how and where to do it

you will need:

+5 elastic bands
the Gun

- wrap the elastic band around the trigger connector special space over the top and it should end up next to the green connector
- the ram elastic bands should wrap around the space and end up at the green connectors

The Stand

Instructables Photos 071.jpg
this step is totally optional, but it is makes the gun stand up like a proud gun. now it can stand up by itself!

you will need:

8 blue special connectors
5 white rods
4 grey special connectors
2 yellow rods
2 red connectors
2 orange connectors

- since this is optional i am too lazy to explain how to do it so just look at the pics. :)

Mods

some mods you can make to my gun:

- put the trigger at the bottom and add a slide thingy at the top like the AP2 pistol so it cocks like a gun
- tape the ram together so its sturdier
- put more elastic bands (duh)
