Hello there,

I made a knex lightsword design. Due interest I decided to post instructions for this. Its the first instructable that I have made, so if something is unclear or not good, feel free to say so :)

P.S. Im not English :d

Part list:
4 black rods
4 small grey gears
4 grey connectors
1 small wide wheel

2 orange connectors (in brown)
3 white connectors (in black)
8 red connectors (in grey)
2 yellow connectors (in white)
9 white rods (in black)
3 green rods (in black)
2 yellow rods (in grey)
1 black rubber band (from trekker set I think)
1 red knex man hand

yellow blade:
32 yellow connectors
31 yellow rods

white blade:
43 white connecters
88 white connecters
3 grey rods
13 grey connecters

This has been a really fun project to do!

Now you add two black rods.
- Slide all parts to one side.
- Connect the black rods to the black snowflake and gray 3-connectors.
- Slide those to the left and connect the next parts, repeat this until the black rods are connected like picture 7.

Step 4: Making the Handle

Follow Pictures.

Picture 2/3/4/5
connect a gray 1-connector + small black rod to the black snowflake, with the gray connector holding the gears in place.

Do this at all gears

Picture 6/7
Slide in a gray (yellow) rod in the two 3-connectors on both sides.

Picture 8
It should look like this.

Picture 9
Make this.

Step 5: Making the Handle

For this part you need the "red knex man hand" like the ones shown in the first picture. And make the parts in the second picture.

Put them on the ends of both small black rods that you added in step 4.

Step 6: Making the Handle

Ok, now you need to take the parts made in step 4 and put the rubber band on it as shown in picture 2 and 3. Then connect the parts to the handle. You can either have the rubber band on the front or the back of the handle. I put them on the back.

Step 7: Making the Handle

IMG_1187.JPG
Take a small and wide wheel, put a small black rod on it (not shown on the picture). Then slide the tire off the rim just a bit, so it will fit around the black snowflake on the end of the handle.

And the handle is done! :D

Step 8: Making the "Laser Light"

IMG_1197.JPG
I did the yellow laser with yellow rods and connectors. Just snap some together, but make sure that you keep two rods sticking out on one end so you can put the handle on there.

Tip: If you dont want to break your fingers on this... use a screwdriver to push some parts on :)

Yay! Its Done!

Here's some other variations that i made.
I put a white blade on it. and replaced the two gray (yellow size) rods and the two pieces that are on the gears with 3 bendable red rods, which looks pretty neat :D
