Knitted Braided Cable Bracelet

I love these bracelets, so soft and tactile, and no clangy sounds of metal. Simple to make, an ideal first project with cables, or as last minute gifts. They are also a fantastic way of using up leftover yarn.

DK (8ply) yarn - you don't need a lot.

Darning needle

If you are making these for a gift, consider using either a bamboo or cotton yarn. They are hardwearing and relatively allergy free.

Abbreviations:

C3F - Cable 3 forward. Slip 3 stitches onto the cable needle. Hold the needle in front of the knitting. Knit 3 from the regular needle. Then knit the three stitches from the cable needle.

C3B - Cable 3 backward. Slip 3 stitches onto the cable needle. Hold the
needle in behind the knitting. Knit 3 from the regular needle. Then knit the three stitches from the cable needle.

Cast on 9 stitches

1. Knit all stitches.

2. Slip the first stitch. Purl all remaining stitches. (Slipping the first stitch keeps the edges straight, neat and tidy)

3. Slip the first stitch. Knit all remaining stitches.

4. Slip the first stitch. Purl all remaining stitches.

5. C3F. Knit 3 stitches.

6. Slip the first stitch. Purl all remaining stitches.

7. Slip the first stitch. Knit all remaining stitches.

8. Slip the first stitch. Purl all remaining stitches.

9. Knit 3 stitches. C3B.

10. Slip the first stitch. Purl all remaining stitches.

Repeat rows 3-10 another 6 times.

Cast off.

Using the darning needle, stitch the 2 ends of the bracelet together. Darn in your tails. Now your bracelet is ready to wear, or give away.
