Kristy's Chill Space at Home

This is my own little chill corner at home.

Location brainstorming

Since many of us work from home now, the time I spend in my room increases a lot, especially on my bed. Therefore I thought, why not use my extra time at home to create a cozy little corner filled with everything I like? When choosing a chill space at home, it can literally be anywhere. For my mom, it could be her balcony since she loves her plants. For my sister, it is definitely the pet's room because her dogs are the most important things to her. And for me, it is a small space at the corner next to my bed, that is my favorite place in my room.

- VESKEN Shelf (or any other kinds of shelf is fine, but remember to measure the dimensions of your space first!)

- Decorations (candles, perfume, books, anything you desire)

- Snacks

- Plants

Inspiration & Measurements

Once I chose my chill spot, I started to design and think about what I want to do with it. I measured the dimensions first, I have 50*25*50 cm of space to use. Considering that my room is more humid in the summer, I decided to get materials that are plastic, glass, or cotton(soft fabric), avoiding getting wood.

My first inspiration came from the app Pinterest. It was a picture of someone's bathroom. A white, five-layer shelf filled with green plants and candles, locating next to the bathtub. I fell in love with this idea the moment I saw it. Therefore I started looking for a shorter shelf online. I am most familiar with IKEA, so I just went with it. After some researching and considering the restrictions on dimensions, I got the VESKEN two-layer, black, plastic shelf. Its dimension is 36*23*40 cm, which fits my restrictions.

Building

The building part was very easy. I ordered from IKEA therefore I built it according to the manual attached with the shelf. There is one top and one bottom layer, four legs, four support sides, and four locks to be installed on the top. Once your hear a click sound, the leg or the side is locked in.

I decorated my little cute shelf with many different things. There are snacks, candle, books I like to read before going to bed, and my bluetooth speaker.

I also tried to put it in my bathroom since it is plastic(waterproof), I could use it to organize my containers in the shower room.
