Kumiko Lamp

What we're going to be making today is a kumiko lamp. A kumiko lamp is a great present for a friend or a family member, for the holidays. So lets get started!

Supplies

Materials:

- Basswood

- walnut

- paper

Tools:

- Chisel

- Planer

- Table Saw

Step 1: Legs

First we're going to start with the legs. You're going to cut 4 legs by 3/4 x 3/4 x 7 1/4. Then after you cut out the 4 legs, you have to make the cross-laps in the legs. You take a ruler from the edge and measured out 1/2 x 1/2 x 1/2. Then you do do it to the other side. After you finish cutting the wood, you're going to need to need chisel the wood.

Step 2: the Stretchers

The size you need to cut the wood to 1/2 x 1/2 x 6 3/4, your going to need 8 stretchers.

Step 3: Kumiko Panel

Now we get to make the actually kumiko panels. You can make the panels with any design you want. I'm going to tell you how to make the frame of the lamp. Your going to take basswood and cut the wood at 4 and a half.

Step 4: Putting Everything Together

Your going to start by putting the stretchers together. Then attach the legs to the stretchers. After the frame of the lamp is put together then put the kumiko panels in. After everything is in place you have your kumiko lamp.
