LDR Breakout Board (Arduino Friendly)
This is a LDR Breakout board made by me. This got a 10k resistor integrated so you just have to provide power in the vcc and gnd pin and connect the signal connector to Arduino. I made this on a stripboard but you can also make this in PCB for a more professional look.
Components and Tools
Components-
1. LDR
2.10K 1/4 watt resistor (can be substituted with 1/8 watt also)
3.Female Connector ( I used female jumper cable)
4.Stripboard ( the type that has all the parallel lines shorted)
Tools-
1.Soldering Iron
2.Hot Glue Gun (optional
3.Solder
4.Soldering station (optional, see how to made one in my profile)
5.Automatic Wire Stripper (Not necessary at all,but extremely helpful)
Cutting the Stripboard for the Circuit
I just cut it using my cutting pliers. You can use anything you got, even scissors :D
Soldering
First place the resistor in the board and bend the leads to make sure that it doesn't fall. Then, solder it by putting the iron tip in one side of the lead an applying solder in the other side of the lead. Solder the LDR by same technique. But for the wire, just hold the solder over the exposed wire and use soldering iron tip to melt the solder on the wire. Remember to cut the leads using cutting tools. Also, store them in somewhere, they make nice short distance jumpers.
Cut the Extra Part
Cut the extra circuit.
Hot Gluing the Connectors
Use hot glue, secure the connectors in the board. You can also use superglue.
Finished!
Congratulations! You have just made a LDR Breakout board! Share your own version in the comment. I would love to see some upgraded version of mine. If you have any questions, ask in the comments.
