This is a boyonet ceiling mounted LED strip light with exposed timber edges.

Design the Product

On paper sketch the design you want and list the parts.
For this item it requires the following parts
a) 2 x ends 3D printed
b) 3D printed ceiling mount for bayonet socket and bracket
c) 3 x timber slats from timber blinds
d) 12volt LED strip lights in aluminium extrusion
e) Transformer

Take Measurements and Draw the Design

Think about the design then draw it and take measurements of the parts. Using a CAD pacakage like tinkercad.com design the parts that need 3D printing.
Download the parts and print or send to a local 3D printer. http://www.3Dhubs.com
I've chosen white but any colour would look good.

Assemble the Items and Wire Up the Parts

The timber slats should fit snuggly into the 3D printed ends and hold the LEDs and timber slats in place. The 3D printed bracket will be glued to the timber slats and offer structural support and allow the fillting to be ceiling mounted.
The transformer can be wired to the bayonet plug on the mains(primary side) and the LED to the 12volt (secondary side).
The LEDs in this case are DC and whilst the transformer is AC output the LEDs only conduct in the one direction being diodes so work fine. The loading for the transformer requires a minimum of 10watts and maximum of 40watts so ensure the strip lighting does not under or overload the transfomer.
Glue in bracket/bayonet bracket.

Connect Up and Enjoy

Connect the bracket to the ceiling socket and plug the item in.
Switch on and off.

(Note image shows only half the left strip of LEDs working - awaiting replacement LED strip to replace faulty part)
