Lace-edged Skirt
Add lace to make a boring skirt more lovely!
Gather Your Supplies
You will need:
- a skirt that fits you but is just a wee bit boring
- sewing machine & sewing knowledge
- tape measure or ruler
- pins
- thread and thread scissors
- lace that is twice the width of the skirt plus one inch (For example, if the skirt was 20 inches wide laying flat, the lace would need to be 41 inches long)
Pin the Lace
Pin the lace all around the edge of the skirt. I had my lace about a 3/4 inch from the edge of the skirt.
Sew
Sew the bottom edge of the lace to the skirt. Lace tends to stretch, so just make sure you sew it flat and just keep it the same distance from the edge of the skirt the whole way around. You will have a little extra lace at the end; that is fine. Just cut off the excess and then fold the lace under 1/2 an inch and sew.
Sew Again
Sew the top edge of the lace the same way you did the bottom edge. Make sure to stay close to the edge of the lace.
Sew Some More
Sew over the part of the lace that is folded over so it will lie flat.
Iron and Enjoy!
Iron over the lace to flatten any bunchiness. Enjoy your new and improved skirt!
