Large Musket Pistol Prop

the famouse flintlock, the first weapon worthy of being called a gun, it was the weapon of choiceof many armys through history and helped win many wars. It was a commonly used weapon in the film "Abraham Lincon: Vampire Hunter" and after seeing the movie I knew i had to make one.

Materials

For this project you will need:
1) A large board of pine, around 15 euro
2)Some metal tubing, left over from the lightsaber
3)A small spoon, 2 euro most
4)An old key,
5)Some screws and randome pieces of metal
6)The brass off an old plug
7) Glue (epoxy and wood glue)
8)A vintage style bike horn, the one i used was an auctual vintage orn of a >50 year old car, you can get similar ones for bikes on the cheap though

and finally some wood stain

Tools

1) A regular board saw
2) A hack saw
3)A small chisel and a large gouge chisel
4)A hand drill and a drill press
5)A sharp knife
6)A hammer you can use with a chisel
7)A coping saw
and something you can apply wood stain with

The Barrel

Take the metal tube and cu it to size, next drill a hole near the tip. Take the horn and saw the exess off and drill a hole, then bolt it onto the tubing.

The Wood

take your wood and cut it to size, cut a piece out where the barrel will go with the coping saw  (and if you take risks use a bigger chizel). Add decritive moldings to the wood useing the knife (optional) and then chizel out a hole for the trigger (socket brass). Next use the gouge to round out where the barrle will go.

The Mechinism

cut the handle of the spoon with your hack saw, then drill a hole for a screw to go. Cut pieces off the key to make it look more like a real flint mechinism, also drill a hole for a screw to go, also screw the trigger on

Handel

cut a handle out of some scraps of wood and secure it on with some wood dowel

Decorating and Finishng

Stain the wood what ever colour you want, i used walnut, then fill in some details with a marker. epoxy the barrel on and your done :)
(also dont be to careful staining the wood, you want it to look old ; ) )
