Larger Prototype Breadboard for Full Size Arduino ESP8266 Etc.
What I made was a larger prototype board that would facilitate a standard size ESP 8266 development board. I understand that you could just as easily put two boards side by side on your bench and get the same results. I have done that and it works just fine , a bit cumbersome though and a bit harder to move around. I have searched the internet for such an item and to date have not found one so I decided to create one.
Supplies
Screwdriver
Rat-tail file
//Everything below is optional or as needed.
rotary file (if using a drill instead of a file)-optional
drill motor -optional
Hair dryer - optional
Proto Type Board Removal
Above you can see what I started with, it is a double proto type board sold everywhere on the internet. On the flip side you will notice 3 Philips head screws, these if you have them should be removed from one side only. What you will do is remove the board , some boards are just double sided taped to the board. If you have one that is just taped then you will want to use a hair dryer to heat up the back side to remove the board .
Assembly
Working from the back side I used a rat-tail file to open up the mounting where the screws were holding the original boards, again all I needed to do was to remove one of the boards. This step you could just drill new holes but unless you have a good drill press and a sharp punch to mark the holes , the file works well.Notice that in the picture the the hole doesn't need to be oval out much, making drilling new holes somewhat difficult.
Finished Project
In the photo above you will notice that the board was just placed next to the other board leaving a space that the connecting tabs would touch the existing board. So for this particular board I didn't need to cut any tabs or reorient it, just unsnap from original. Notice how nicely the ESP6288 12E development board fits the proto type board. It leaves plenty of pin holes for you to make your connections. If you find this project useful, please vote for it, thanks.
