Laser Beam Super Hero Guantlets

No Super Hero Costume is complete without a hidden laser!  I'm going to show you how to create a wrist gauntlet and attach your secret weapon for maximum effect!

Measure and Cut

To begin with you want to take some measurements.  You will need the circumference of your wrist as well as the top of part of your forearm and the distance between the two.  With these measurements you will make your pattern.

On my arm it was wrist 6 inch, forearm 9 inch and length of gauntlet 10 inch

You will want to add 1/2 inch to each measurement for seam allowances.

Your pattern will resemble a triangle with a flattened point.

Transfer your pattern to your fabric of choice and cut it out.

Stitch and Stick

If you choose to have the spike thingy coming off the back of your gauntlet now is when you would create and add that.  It is made from a simple triangle shaped pattern.  You can play around with it and adjust sizing to your liking.  Remember to make 2 exactly the same and to add 1/2 inch to the side that will be stitched into your glove.  Fabric would work nice for this but when I made mine I wanted something firm that would really stick out and make a statement.  So I used a piece of poster board cut into the triangle shape and then covered with white duct tape.

You will want to place your fabric right sides together (lengthwise) and insert your spike if wanted and then stitch along the seam.  When you turn the fabric right side out you will have your gauntlet with spike attached and almost ready for the big night!

Inserting the Laser

Now comes the tricky part....just kidding.  :0

I actually had a laser pointer cat toy that I used for this project  You want to slide it inside the glove so that the button  you push to make it light up is resting against the top interior side of the gauntlet.  Then secure it with another piece of duct tape.  To activate simply push the button down through the glove and your rid laser light will shoot a beam directly at your enemy :)  Be sure to flex the wrist down for optimal laser exposure!

I also used the white duct tape to accent the top part of the gauntlet as well as the racing stripes and belt used in the rest of the costume
