Leather Keychain

A simple leather keychain that can be made from scraps/offcuts.

Tool's
steel ruler
craft knife
awl
needle
pencil or pen
waxed thread

optional tools
pliers (helpful to pull needle through the leather if it gets a bit tight)
glue
lighter
paper clips/clamps

Leather scraps/offcuts. Cut a strip of leather for your keychain using your steel ruler and craft knife. The size you decide to make it will be dependent on what length you want it to be and the diameter of your keyring. I'm terrible at throwing leather offcuts away so scratched through my scraps and found a perfect pre cut strip measuring 215mm x 15mm.

Folding the ends over adds a nice finish to the end product but is not necessary if you don't want to do it. Measure and mark amount equal to the width of your strip. I'm my case 15mm. Using your craft knife carefully thin the end of the leather strip then apply some glue fold the thinned section in half and clamp to dry. Repeat on the other end. Remove clamps once glue is dry.

Fold the leather so it looks like the picture.

Mark your holes for sewing and using your awl punch holes through the leather. The pattern in which you sew it is up to your own personal preference I like to sew a square with criss-cross in the middle .

Thread a piece of waxed thread onto you needle and sew your leather together. Once finished tie off your thread trim the ends. Optional: I like to burn the ends of my threads once I've cut them but it is not a must just a personal preference for me.

Add the keyring and then add it to whatever you want keys, knife, tourch, etc
