Light Bulb Vases

This is a simple, but elegant vase. Most times we throw light bulbs out after they burn out, however, with this craft we turn useless trash into useful and beautiful art for the home.

Materials

- Old lightbulb (Preferably clear)

- Pliers

- Screwdriver

- Eye protection

Take Off the Metal Piece

Use the pliers and your fingernails to peel back the "electrical foot contact" or the circular metal piece and remove it.

Remove the Black Piece on Top

Next, you will want to take off the black piece at the top. This can be tricky; I found it easiest to put one side of the pliers in the middle opening and the other on the outside and then pinching. This allows parts to break off until all of the black piece is off.

Be sure to wear eyewear as this piece is glassy.

Remove the Middle Light Part

Now we will be removing the middle cylinder part. In order to do this, we will have to break the glass part inside. This part was tricky but I found that jamming the screwdriver down was the most efficient way. Afterward, you can pour the broken pieces out and dispose of this properly.

Preperation and Usage

Now you can rinse out the light bulb to be sure all glass pieces are out.

Finally, your light bulb vase is ready for use! Add a flower or two, make a wire stand or hang it with some string, whatever you choose, just be creative and make it fit your style! I used an old bottle cap as a stand.

*Keep in mind that light bulbs are very fragile so handle accordingly
