Get ready to shape your chalk pieces for the perfect carving surface! Start by grabbing some sandpaper and gently scratch each chalk piece until you achieve a smooth, even surface. Carefully sand them down into precise rectangles, each measuring about 10 mm. This will give you the ideal canvas for carving your letters. As shown in the image, these perfectly shaped chalk pieces will ensure your typography stands out brilliantly!

Making the Text Ready

Given that each chalk piece has a diameter of 10 mm and a length of 80 mm, the ideal dimensions for each carved letter are 10 mm by 10 mm.

To make your carving process a breeze, we've created a handy template for you! Attached is an A4 sheet with the text sized perfectly to 10 mm by 10 mm. All you need to do is download, print, and cut out the templates. With these guides, your letters will be precisely shaped and ready for carving in no time!

Carve the Letters

When pasting the letters into the rectangular spaces, use a very light amount of glue to avoid disruption during carving. Patience is key during the carving process; go slowly to prevent the chalk from breaking. If it does break, don't worry—use Fevi Quick to reattach it. Remember to exercise caution when using the knife. Happy crafting!

Cut the cardboard into four pieces measuring 40 mm by 100 mm each. Paste them one by one to create a sturdy base for the chalk.

Next, use a 9 mm drill bit to carefully drill holes spaced 15 mm apart at the centers. These holes are perfect for securely placing your 10 mm diameter carved chalk pieces.

LIGHT THE TEXT

Use the needle to create eight holes strategically for inserting the LEDs, ensuring they're evenly spaced for a balanced glow.

Next, carefully follow the circuit diagram to make precise connections and solder each component securely into place. Once everything is set up, flip the switch and watch as your creation comes to life with a vibrant glow!

Mounting the Base Cover

Cut the cardboard to fit the length of the base, leaving a deliberate 40 mm gap on the lower side and a precise 20 mm on the base side for a snug fit.

Carefully attach it using glue, ensuring a firm bond. This secure base with mounting provides stability and enhances the overall presentation of your creation.

Cover the Text

Create sturdy pillars using craft sticks to support and stabilize the OHP sheet. Trim off any excess sheet with scissors, then neatly cover the assembly with white cardboard, ensuring the switch has ample space in its designated area. This step ensures your display is both functional and aesthetically pleasing!
