Lilburn Day Camp Art Gallery Tote Bag
I recently finished a great week as a leader for Junior 7 at Girl Scouts' Lilburn Day Camp Fine Arts Academy. We had two older scout Camp Aides helping our unit. As a gift for these wonderful helpers, our unit decorated a bag for them. Each junior had a canvas section to create their masterpiece, and the result was an art gallery bag for each CA. The juniors brought in treats to fill the bag.
This would make a great teacher gift. A picture frame rubber stamp inspired this idea. For a different look, you could stamp frames on the bag, and then decorate the canvases.
Supplies
- Canvas bag
- Fabric Markers
- Ruler
- Pencil
I used a 13"x15" bag, but you can adapt the idea to any size bag.
We used a variety of fabric markers including some Shapie Stained brush tip markers and Crayola Fabric Markers.
Pencil in Canvases
There were 16 girls in our unit, so I penciled in 16 2"x3" canvases, 8 on each side of the bag.
Decorate Canvases
Each girl created their own mini canvas and an optional frame. Many of the frames highlighted items the Camp Aides liked including Frozen, Coke, One Direction, tie-dye, lollipops, swimming, music, soccer, popcorn, Cheetos, and lemonade.
Decorate Canvases on Second Bag
Some canvases included the CA's camp name Pepper. Other canvases included camp scenes.
