I created a small loft building so I could familiarize myself with Revit and its tools. It includes a loft, bathroom, kitchen/living space, and an additional closet/laundry area.

Supplies

https://www.bimobject.com/en < I used this for a lot of the furniture/decorations in the building. Other than that there is no additional materials you need.

Layout

I made the toposolid and then I started the project by creating the overall layout that I wanted the building to have. That included the main walls for both floors and any other rooms I wanted to add. I also added the flooring for the first level.

Loft/Stairs

I added the loft floor and the ceiling for the first floor underneath the loft, I also added a staircase and railings on the loft floor and stairs. I did not do the roof or ceiling for the second floor until the inside was mostly completely furnished.

Windows/Doors

I added the windows and doors. I resized a few windows to make sure they fit my expectations, that included sizing up a window and sizing down windows in the front. At this point I was paying attention to the colors/materials chosen for all walls, windows, and doors. I mostly used a white brick, various concretes, and regular white for most of the exterior and interior.

Downstairs Rooms

I then began to furnish the inside of the building. I started with the bathroom, it includes a shower, bath, sink, mirror, and toilet. I also added a small carpet for décor. Then I worked on a closet/laundry area across from the bathroom. It incudes a closet, a washer/dryer machine, and cabinets.

Kitchen

I then worked on the kitchen. The kitchen was one of the hardest to furnish as it was difficult to orient all the counters, cabinets, appliances, etc. I played around with it a lot until I found a way that I liked that would also be convenient for anyone if they lived in the building. I also made sure that as I furnished each area, I colored the various furnishings to maintain the style I wanted.

Nook Furnishings

I added a small dining space with a bookshelf behind it. I had added a small island counter with stools in the kitchen, but I felt there needed to be more space to eat. However, I also just wanted to fill the space so when furnishing this part of the building there is a lot more creative liberty.

Living Area

I then worked on the living room. The downstairs of my loft is mostly open concept, so it is a little harder to figure out the best way to place furnishings. I changed things and resized things a couple times to make it fit into place.

I finally started working on the upstairs loft. I added a small office space, a bed, a seating area, and storage. This area was pretty easy to furnish and because I made my space open there was a lot of freedom with how I could position things.

I then added any other details that I could on the interior before I started working on the exterior again.

More Building Work

I created the roof and ceiling on the second floor. Then on the outside I added more wall details like indents in the building and trims, this was to make the building more aesthetically pleasing.

I finalized this project by adding some trees, benches, and a fence/fence gate, to make the outside look more inviting. Overall, this project was pretty simple and fun to do.
