Hello and welcome to my Witch King of Angmar helmet tutorial!

First of all for this project i did not use my own templates, i got them from here: http://www.therpf.com/f24/witch-king-angmar-finish...

So first go and download those and we can get started!

Things you'll need!

  • Foam Board
  • EVA Foam
  • Glue Gun + Sticks
  • Black Acrylic Paint
  • White Acrylic Paint
  • Marker Pen
  • Hobby Knife
  • Illustrator (or some other software where you can scale up the templates!)
  • Heat Gun

Cutting Out the Templates!

So now that you have your templates printed out, next you need to cut them out! (duh!)

i cut them out and traced them straight onto the foam ready for cutting.

The images above should show you what type of foam i used for what template piece.

White parts = Foam Board

Blue parts = EVA Foam

Cutting Out the Foam Parts and Glueing Them!

So now you have all of the foam parts, now to shape and glue them!

To get the shape i used a heat gun and very carfuly heat the foam board until i could bend it! (too much and it will burn) ps- don't burn your fingers when shaping the foam, wear gloves or something.

The EVA foam is much easier to shape than the foam board as it doesn't burn as easily.

Once all the pieces are the right shape then you can glue them all together! (use a reference picture to get the right shapes!)

Painting!

Now that you have the helmet fully constructed you can now paint it!

First i undercoated it in black acrylic paint then dry brushed white over it to get a rough weathered texture!

I added some features myself like the horns and two small circles of foam to make them look like nails.

And thats it! Easy as pie!

Hope you enjoyed this project and for more costumes and props i have made check out my Facebook and Youtube!

Thanks!!
