Make beautiful love lights from tin cans! (Sorry about the pictures my camera is not good at dark pictures.)

Wash and take the label off a food tin can. Fill the can with water leaving a half inch space for expanding. Place your tin can in a freezer.

Making the Pattern

On a piece of paper draw a heart and on a second piece write “I heart you”.  When the water is completely frozen remove the can from the freezer. Tape your papers to the can. Place the can on a towel to keep it from sliding around and punch out the design by hammering the nail into your can.

Once the pattern is complete run the can under hot water for about a minute and the ice will slide out. Dry the can very well.

Now you are ready to paint. I painted the can light pink and then added a darker pink around the top and bottom and filling in the hearts. Wait for your paint to dry and use a thumb tack or needle to poke the paint out of the holes. Add a light and enjoy!
