MAT 238 Week 7

This week's product taught me how challenging mechanical engineering is. I still struggled a bit even with all the pieces already made by Alejandro. I enjoyed my first experience with the Bambu printer because it allowed me to quickly iterate with offsets for the pieces. I used some leftover supplies from the thrift store that I had used for a robotics workshop.

I extruded out extra material like Alejandro suggested to bring down the print time, and I modified one of the cams to be more egg shapes in the hopes that it would create an oscillating pattern.

I sliced everything in the Bambu slicer which was a great application. Everything fit on the plate, but I originally forgot to print two cam followers and the lever turned to spaghetti during the whole print. I think it was because everything was too close together and it was a small piece that was placed on the outside. I had to reprint it separately.

Finally, I snapped everything together and glued on all the silly things. I had a leftover creepy hand that I made a copy of and glued them to the CAM followers. Then I struggled to force in the fake flowers. I realized only after gluing the fake nails on that there wasn't room for the lever to spin -- lesson learned. I used an exacto knife to shave off the excess.
