Magic Chocolate Ball
Here is a magic chocolate ball. It is a thin layer of chocolate over a desert, which when hot fudge is poured over it, the chocolate layer melts away, revealing the desert.
Supplies
Recipe:
- 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 TB of coconut oil
- A small desert of your choosing, I used a mini blueberry cheesecake
- Any topping for your dessert (Berries/Ice cream/Whip cream)
- Hot fudge sauce
Tools:
- 2 fillable ornament molds
Combine Chocolate and Coconut Oil
In a microwave-safe bowl, add the 2 cups of chocolate chips and the 2 TB of coconut oil. Microwave and mix together in 30-second intervals and stir until smooth.
Add the Chocolate to the Ornaments
Add half the chocolate to each ornament. Then rotate each ornament to coat the sides. Next, put the two sides together and move it around to fill in any gaps and fully coat the ornament.
Place It in the Freezer
Place the ball in the freezer for 30 minutes, rotating every 3 minutes to avoid the chocolate settling.
Remove the Chocolate
Next, very carefully remove the mold from the chocolate. Also, try to avoid touching the chocolate ball as it will melt.
Assemble Your Dessert
Set your dessert up on a serving plate. For my dessert, I took a mini blueberry cheesecake, cut it in half then added whip cream and berries as wanted. Make sure your dessert is relatively small since the chocolate ball will need to sit over the top of it.
Melt a Hole
slowly, melt a hole in the bottom of the chocolate ball, either with the heat from your hands or on a small, nonstick skillet over low heat. Then place the chocolate ball over the desert.
Serve!
When you are ready, heat up the hot fudge and pour it over the chocolate ball. This will melt the top layer of chocolate and leave you looking at a delicious chocolate-covered desert.
