Magnetic Minecraft Blocks

Minecraft is a very fun game as it allows you to build anything, this project brings that experience to the real life. Play minecraft in real life and build whatever you want.

Materials Required

1. Block templates (To be printed)

2. Cardboard (I just used a shoe box)

4. Glue

Tools Required

3. Scissors or hobby knife

Cutting the Templates

Download and print the given templates and start cutting them with a pair of scissors or a hobby knife. Also cut the side tabs, we don't need them.

Cutting Cardboard

We will need 6 cardboard squares for every cube. Create a grid of squares with every side of 2.6 cm and cut them out.

Sticking the Carboard

Stick the cardboard squares fairly in the center to every side of the template using glue.

Magnetic Orientation

Now for the difficult part. We can't just stick magnets in any orientation, as we all know the same poles repel and opposite poles attract each other. I found this to be an optimal placement -

North - Top, Right and Left

South - Bottom, Front and Back

(This is the polarity from the outside, meaning this the side you have to stick to the cardboard)

To find out the polarity of a magnet just bring it near a compass, I used the compass in my phone.

Closing It All Up

Using a glue gun, glue every side and to glue the last side just apply some glue on the edges and close it. Now your magnetic minecraft blocks are ready !!!

Have fun and if you liked my instructable then vote for it in the contest :)
