Magnetic Tools

Design thinking is a more creative way to look at things, change your perspective, and come up with new and better ideas. Design thinking is important when designing because this way your design is better in many ways, you have already made a whole process of designing it and you have already solved the problems you had when designing. My design is magnetic tools (in my design only forks), but the background is the wall in front of where my user works, my user's work is to cook, and when she cooks all her tools are all over the table occupying space, this design will help her tools stick to the wall and not have that problem anymore.

Supplies

The materials I used where cardboard, plastic forks, magnet balls, magnet stip, glue gun, and scissors.

Step 1: Glue a Magnet Strip to Your Wall/background.

Empathy is when you put yourself in others' shoes to feel the same they are feeling. Empathy fits into design thinking because you are designing for others and for others' needs, so you are putting yourself in there shoes and design what they would like to have. In my case my user is the cooker in my house, I put myself in her shoes and after asking her some questions I felt like this design would be best in her interest and would be very helpful to her. In the interpretation phase I first thought of making a organizer with small tools inside that could be taken anywhere, then I realized that would only be helpful for when she goes to other places and small tools wont really help when she is cooking where she always cooks. After the interview the drivers Uusers needs) were medium size, organized, and simple, the constratrains (what challenges to solve) were not expensive, space, mobility, and easy to use.

Step 2: Glue the Magnet Balls to the Tools You Wish

Ideation is a form of expressing your ideas or concepts. It is a creative process in which you are creating, developing, and communicating your ideas. It helps you create a better project and make sure you did all the process to choose the right one and the helpful one. I made 10 sketches of a design that would be helpful for my user and out of those 10 I choose the most helpful to her.

Step 3: Check It Works.

step 3 .jpeg

It is important to check is the magnets do stick together and the tools don't fall so we know that our user won't have a problem using it. The point of this project is to make it easier for her so we need to check if it works.

Step 4: Add As Many Magnet Balls to the Tools You Wish.

Now that I check that the magnets worked I could add as many magnets as I wanted to the tools I wanted. This way I couldn't have wasted a lot of tools and magnets for them to not work.
