Magnetic Workshop Lamp
Here I built a magnetic mini workshop light out of a bicycle lamp.
For this project you need an old Knog Blinder, perfectly when the rubber strip is ripped and you can't fix this bike lamp anymore. You have to disamble the light completely. Just to have the circuit board as leftover.
Also needed is a magnet magnet 9,5x59x3mm or slightly smaller, a button, diameter 13 or 14mm and a USB-C port 14,7x14,7. For the port two scres M4x5-8. And some small cables to connect everything.
Supplies
Getting Started
Just rip everything of from the lamp! Be a little brutal, because everything is glued together! In the end you just need to have the circuit board with the LED's and the clear cover.
The diode is circled, because i f*ed that up and had to solder a new one into..
Soldering
Now you have to solder the electronic parts together.
The USB port is quite easy, because there is just plus and minus. Just connect the same to the port. To know where right connectors from the port are, you have to take a look at the distributor site. There it is mostly written.
A little more difficult is the button. Just cut the flap of, you dont need it anymore. Just for loading we need these two soldering spots which are marked in the second picture. Here it doesn't matter which cables you connect to the button.
3D Printing
Now download the files!
I printed the grey part in TPU and the green one in PETG. Both in a 0.2 resolution. While printing don't forget to insert the magnet in the slot by using pause at your printer in the exact time or you can make a break in the g-code with Cura.
Assembling
Now assemble everything together!
Well done, you have a magnetic mini workshop light out of a bicycle lamp.
p.s.
please don't be harsh to my bad documentation. While soldering the second diode, which I mentioned in the beginning, I destroyed the circuit board. So now I have everything working expect the main part. After all I found this site and thought about giving this project an extra life, because there was a lot of effort. Maybe someone out there has a broken light...
