Make Festive Gourd Trees
Gourds are so very festive in the Fall. For this speed challenge I decided to make 2 Fall tree centerpieces using gourds that I purchased and leaves from my yard. I got my husband to help me with the tools and we had a fun time sharing ideas and putting these together. I hope you enjoy seeing how we did it. It was a fun project to work on and they were pretty quick to make! Here is how we made them.
Supplies
hammer
nails
glue
electric hand saw
bag of assorted gourds
leaves and branches
small tree trunk
optional festive picks
Cut the Tree Trunk
Using an electric hand saw, cut 2 one-inch slices from the tree trunk. This forms the base of each tree.
Choose Your Gourds
I chose white with stripes for the bottom, pumpkin gourds for the center and tall green gourds for the top of each tree.
Add Nails and Leaves
Hammer in 4 nails and arrange leaves between.
Remove Any Tops
Break off any central tops so the gourd has a flat surface.
Add the Bottom Gourd
Press the gourd onto the nails to secure on the bottom leaves. Add a nail to the center of the gourd. Squirt some glue around the top.
Add Leaves
Arrange leaves on top of the gourd.
Add Another Gourd
Add some glue and top with the orange gourd.
Add a Nail and Glue
Add a nail in the center and add glue. Arrange more leaves on top.
Press on the Top Gourd
Make a nail hole in the bottom of the top gourd. Press it onto the nail over the leaves.
The First Tree Is Done!
We were really happy with the results! Repeat all steps to make another tree if desired.
Both Trees
Here are both trees. I arranged some festive picks around the bottom just for fun. You can keep one tree and give one to someone you love.
So Pretty!
Pictured here are both of our trees made from gourds that I purchased and leaves from my yard. I hope you enjoyed seeing our Instructable. These sure were fun to make!!!
