Make: Robot Hotglue Injection Mold

Make: Magazine has one of the most famous maker or hobbyist mascots ever. His name is Makey, and now you can Make: Millions of Make robots with a hot glue injection mold! With the time of making these cute mascots lowered, now you can make more than ever before! The two mold pieces print in about 1 hour and 45 minutes total, and then you can start producing like mad!

whether you have a 3D printer or not, you must first 3D print the files somehow. In order to print them, you need a at least 20X20X20mm bed for the files as individual prints, but for the "E-Z setup" you need a 100X100X100mm print area.

the prints together take about 1 hour and forty-five minutes.

First, Spray your mold with cooking oil so that the model is easier to take out. If you have a multi-heat hot-glue gun, then set it on "low" setting, and let it heat. If you do not have a multi-heat hot-glue gun, then just turn it on and let it heat. Then, clamp the two pieces of the mold together, making sure to align the pins. Next, you place a layered piece of tin foil (a piece of tin foil folded over itself) with a hole in it. This is so the mold doesn't melt (I learned that the hard way...). Then, inject the glue into the mold until some starts to pour out of the air release hole. After, wait 20-40 minutes for the mold to cool. Then, simply pry of the front of the mold. And then finaly, you use a screw-driver or your finger to pull the model out of the mold.
