Make Your Google Nest Speaker Death

Maybe you thought: "Ha, these Smart Home -Speakers are great and stuff, but I don't trust the Mute-Button in the back, and also then the speaker reminds me constantly about the muted microphones. But I surely want this great looking speaker!"

So here we are, we have a Google Nest Speaker, but we don't want the microphones in it. So let's cut them out!

• A Nest speaker
• T6 Torx screw driver
• Any plastic picks, to open the speaker
• Flat Nose Pliers
• Wire Cutter
• Needle

• The front cover of the device is made of recycled plastic and is press-fit onto the body. It's connected to the body by a flex cable, which can be disconnected easily by hand.
• To remove the front cover, insert a simple pick into the seam between the front and back housing and gently pry along the seam.
• If the cover is difficult to remove, you may need to use a flathead screwdriver to rotate and lift it off the body.
• As the front enclosure starts to loosen, it will begin to "pop" off. Carefully flip up the front enclosure to access the flex cable, and disconnect the cable to remove the front enclosure.
• Remove the cable by hand

In the fron cover you can see the touch-panels and two small microphones.

After removing the cable, you can now remove the 6 plastic plugs. Use the flat nose pliers for that.

Under these plugs are screws. Unscrew these to remove the backcover. Be careful while removing. There's also a cable going to the back-microphones. Unplug this cable

Unscrew the panels from the front and the backcover

The microphones are MEMS Microphones. There are two mics located on the long front panel and one at the short back panel. You can remove the mics by using pliers and raming a needle through the small hole of the board.

Reassamble everything

Try to say "Hey Google". It won't react
