This is how I made a finger board deck out of veneer.

You Will Need:

The Mould

Take the block of wood (2x2x5) and draw on to the long side an image of the side of the board.

The Veneer

cut out 5 peices of veneer or 1 ply to about the same size as the mould. 3 peices should have the grain in one direction and the other 2 should have the grain running perpendicular. Glue all the layers to gether with wood glue like in the picture.
then put the sheets together in the mould and clamp it. leave it for between 12 and 24 hours to dry hard.

Shaping and Finishing

once the glue has had time to dry you will want to shape the deck.

If you are intending to use a circular sander it would be wise to draw the shape on to the the top of the board so as to save your fingers. once you have drawn the shape on to the deck it is time to remove the exess. i used a circular sander because it was the quickest way i found that would not break the veneer but any other way you find is alright. you should get a nice deck with round ends.
To finish the deck you rub the edges with sand paper to stop the veneer breaking and the i varnished the base to bind it all together.
