Make Your Own Hair Sticks

I needed some hair sticks for my wedding and couldn't find anything I really liked so I decided to make my own.

You'll need the following items:

- pair of chopsticks / wooden dowels
- some eye bolts
- beads, wire, fish wire, other pretty items

You could whittle your own sticks or you can be lazy like me. I went into my cutlery drawer and got myself a pair of wooden chopsticks (I used my new reserve chopsticks). If you're whittling your own sticks, paint and varnish it. Using chopsticks means no finishing and sometimes you can get some really nicely painted ones.

Get yourself some eye bolts. I found mine in my hanging set.

It'll take a bit of patience and possibly some swearing to do this.
I actually broke a few eye bolts, thus making me go into the used (BUT CLEAN!) chopstick selection in my cutlery drawer.

After putting in those eye bolts, you deserve a tea break. The bolts are small, the chopsticks are hard and your fingers are probably cramped and sore. You might've also cursed loud enough to make the family upstairs cover their children's ears when they walk by your door.

You can use what you want to make the hair stick pretty.

When you're done, go on and wear it and smile when someone asks where you got the awesome hair stick.
