I chose to make a solar system to inform the public about the planet there, order, relative size, and color.

My project uses copper tape and wire to create a circuit. This circuit allows for when clicked to say the name of the planet that is being pressed to educate on the order and names of the planets and the sun.

Supplies

Copper wire

Aluminum foil

Playdoh Cardboard

Hot Glue

Copper tape

Tape

Small CD

Ping pong balls

Black marker

Step 1: Coding the Project

Create 9 sprites of all of the planets and the sun

Step 2: Coding the Project

Screenshot 2022-02-17 214803.png

Add a space background of your choosing

Step 3: Coding the Project

Screenshot 2022-02-17 214953.png

Create 9 different broadcasts for each different planet when a respective key is pressed (e.g. sun, space; mercury, up arrow; etc.)

Step 4: Coding the Project

For the broadcast corresponding to the planet, have the planet increase in size by your chosen amount and move to (0,0) wait one second then move back to its respective position

Step 5: Coding Project

When a broadcast is happening that does not correspond to the planet, those planets should hide wait one second then show

Step 6: Creating the Project

Screenshot 2022-02-17 215556.png

Create 6 planets increasing in size (not Saturn and Jupiter) with tin foil

Step 7: Creating the Project

Screenshot 2022-02-17 215556.png

Cover ping pong balls with tin foil to make Saturn and Jupiter

Step 8: Creating the Project

Screenshot 2022-02-17 215847.png

Make Saturn's ring out of CD and Uranus's ring out of tin foil

Step 9: Creating the Project

Poke holes into the planets using the copper wire

Step 10: Creating the Project

Screenshot 2022-02-17 220115.png

Decorate and cover planets in playdoh

Step 11: Creating the Project

Screenshot 2022-02-17 220213.png

Make a tin foil ball bigger than the rest of the planets and cover it with playdoh to be the sun

Step 12: Creating the Project

Screenshot 2022-02-17 220337.png

Gather 8 pieces of copper wire and cut copper wires to desired length (preferred decreasing in size)

Step 13: Creating the Project

Screenshot 2022-02-17 220514.png

Attach the copper wire to the planets (starting with the shortest for mercury and so on)

Step 14: Creating the Project

Screenshot 2022-02-17 220639.png

Create a circle out of cardboard and mark 8 equally spaced parts (can use a compass)(can color the ring black)

Step 15: Creating the Project

Screenshot 2022-02-17 220919.png

Glue the copper wires with the planets onto the cardboard ring

Step 16: Creating the Project

Screenshot 2022-02-17 221106.png

Glue the sun to the center of the cardboard ring

Step 17: Creating the Project

Attach copper tape around the planets connecting to copper wire (for sun left off the edge to connect to the clip)
