Making a Simple Copper Band

IMG_3327.jpg

When I have nothing that I can do out side one of my hobby's is Jewelry making. I am no expert at it but I try, so I had some left over copper wire from one of my Tin Can Rose's and I have made this simple copper bracelet.

Tools and Materials

Tools,

  • Hammer
  • Wire cutters
  • punch, you only need the punch if you want to make some small dots in the band.
  • sand paper
  • and some hard smooth surface.

Materials

  • Copper wire

I just took the Wire layed in on our basement floor and pounded the whole thing, being careful not to put any odd marks in it. I would have used my anvil, but it was snowing out side and I did not want to work in the freezing shop. I want this for me to wear so I took my hammer and added some ruffles on the sides of the band, just so it would look a little nicer on me. once I was happy with how it looked I cut it to size.

Bending

After pounding it out, I started slowly bending the copper in to shape trying to keep it as smooth as possible. then I just hit it with a little sand paper around the ends. You can see how I added the look around the edges in the pictures.

The End

Really easy, and I like it It turned out nice I think. If you wanted to make it fancy you could sand it smooth, and use a file to put a pattern into the band. I might do that some time later.
