Making a Miniature Hudson Bay Blanket
I have been a member on instructables.com for a couple of years now until now did not have any projects I thought worth sharing here. So this is my first tutorial. During this tutorial I will show you how to make a realistic looking Hudson bay blanket of your dollhouse or other miniature project.
Gathering Your Materieals
To make this blanket you will need the following items:
2- Rulers ( I strongly recommend using metal ones if you can because they lay close enough to the cloth to help keep your lines crisp and straight while preventing the ink from running to much)
1/3 to 1/2 yard The lightest weight cream colored flannel you can find.
Blue, yellow, red, and green permanent markers in both regular and fine tips ( recommend sharpies mostly because that is what I used on the originals)
A Pair of scissors
Lastly a cutting mat to work on.
Making Your Blanket
You will need to cut a rectangle that measures 6" X 71/2" from your piece of flannel.
Follow the diagram shown here to set your line spacing then use the two rulers as guides to keep the ink nice and straight.
Use the fine marker to set the outer edges of each line then the regular one to fill in the main body of the line. to avoid the risk of smearing ink onto unwanted areas allow each set of lines to dry completely before adding the next.
once you have completed the bottom repeat on the top so your blanket looks like the last photo.
Thank you for taking the time to give my project a look. I hope my little tutorial has been helpful to you and I wish you the best of luck with all you projects.
