Lets make a paper boomerang!

Supplies

Half a piece of paper

Fold it in half the direction shown.

Unfold it, then fold the two long edges into the center, leaving a small gap in the middle.

Fold this in half as shown.

Working with the edge you folded in the previous step, fold the top corners into the center.

Flip it over, and do the same thing, folding the same corners back the other direction.

Unfold the corners, and the previous fold, make sure it looks like the first picture above. Then unfold the right hand side. You should see a diamond in the middle created by your creases.

Rotate as shown, then take the bottom corner of the diamond, and bring it up to the point the arrow shows. Then let the left wing relax down as shown in the last picture. When you are done, you should be left with a right angle, and the two top edges sticking up in the air.

Take the left edge that is sticking up, and fold it down flat.

Take the bottom part of the right wing, and fold it over as well. Notice the bottom corner of the diamond you folded up in the last step is now sticking up in the air.

The Hardest Part!

Take that corner sticking up into the air, and fold it up into the pocket created in step 8. Everything should fit together and lay flat when you are done.

Look at the Two Wings

Notice they are not exactly the same. Find the one shown in the first picture (with two layers of paper on each side), use it in the next step.

Carefully open up the wing as shown, and fold the corners into the middle. Do this both forward and backwards with both corners.

IMG_4155.PNG

Fold the right corner inside of itself as shown.

IMG_4158.PNG

Let the wing relax back together. Then take the left corner and tuck it inside the groove you made in the right corner on the previous step.

Repeat the same process on the other wing. Even though the next wing doesn't look the same, the process is the doesn't change.

This is your finished product.

Throw It!

Hold the boomerang as shown, then flick your wrist and toss it like a Frisbee, but gently. For best results, throw it upwards at a 45-60 degree angle.
