Manly Shot Glass Cupcakes

* Plus Masculine Sprinkle alternatives!! *

This can, just as easily, be a feminine shot glass cupcake.  I just wanted the challenge of making something "fruity" (sweet cupcakes with adorable sprinkles), transform into a tolerable treat for manly men.  I used some Jagermeister shot glasses, blue and black cake batter and special things for topping.

Keep in mind - with the idea of baking cupcakes in shot glasses, you can really display the colors in a small package.  I love rainbows and unicorns, but maybe you like black and red (which I also love), and you want to show those awesome colors in a shot glass cupcake.  Plus, if you have a collection of glasses, this would be a cool way to show them off at a party, with alcoholic recipe cupcakes, then drink out of them afterwards.

Disclaimer - I was crazy enough to put shot glasses in my oven.  I live dangerously.  Don't trust me.  BUT, if the glasses seem thick enough to handle it, maybe they are.  Don't turn up the heat beyond 325, because I didn't.  But remember, don't trust me, this is a disclaimer.  :)

Tools!

Buff men need tools.

-Make it easy - cake mix.  Mix it.
-Colors, if you like them, divide batter and color.
-Pick your burly toppings.  Make them rough.
-Choose your favorite shot glasses.

*Set oven to 325 degrees.  Don't forget.  (PRE-Heat)

Directions! (Not Instructions, Don't Worry.)

Make your batter, divide and color it if you wish.  Choose your glasses, you can grease or PAM them if you'd like.  For putting your batter in, you can layer it with a spoon, you can put it in a plastic bag and clip the corner and squeeze it into the shot glass or you can put it into a piping bag and carefully pipe the colors into your vessel.  One thing that I love, is to use those ketchup and mustard bottles from the store.  I just clean them out and reuse them for other colors, etc.

Just set your half-filled shot glasses onto a metal pan and put them into the oven.  Depending on your oven, it should take 10-12 minutes.  Use a toothpick to poke inside and make sure that it slips out clean!  Take them out of the oven and put them on a rack to cool.

*TIP* The glass will continue to cook your cupcake, so you want to make sure to remove the shot glass from all heat.  You don't want any ugly yellowing inside.

There aren't any.  I've tried other glasses that range in shape and etc.  Shot glasses are best proportioned, best thickness and they produce the best glass-cupcakes.  If you go bigger, the batter burns externally and doesn't cook inside.  So you need to leave it in longer to cook the middle, while the outside gets uglier.  Same goes for tall and thin glasses.  I will attach a photo in this step.  When you have more glass surface touching the cupcake, there is more room for error.

Basically, stick to shot glasses for the best, most presentable results.  And I will remind you - I base my judgement on what turns out the best - most visually appealing outcome.

No decorating!!! MenCorating!!!  (okay that was weird.  i just made that up.)

Maybe it will become a thing.  :D  Anyways - I've thought about what would require a cupcake to jump over the edge and land into Hello Kitty's arms.  This answer is - bright colors, pastels, rainbows, pinks, sprinkles, glitter, etc.  Staying away from those options didn't leave much to choose from.

I chose to go with powdered sugar, classic chocolate chips (small or normal), and heath candy stuff (comes in a bag like chocolate chips).

By mixing and matching these understated toppings, you can't go wrong.  I love the idea of using the Heath Bar stuff, because it adds a rough texture, and that's how guys like it, right?  Rough!?  :)  I'm very impressed with the way these turned out, and I hope you guys will use shot glasses for manly or girly cupcakes at your parties!  Just eat them with a spoon!
