Marble Snails

A little while ago I came across a Marble Snail made of clay and I knew I needed a fleet of them!

And so the 3D printed Marble Snail was born. It takes about 15 minutes to print and a little longer to decorate, so the only thing holding me back from a very slow world domination now is not enough marbles!

• Mini Drill (Pin Vice)
• Wire cutters
• Pliers
• Paperclips
• Stick on gems (for the eyes)

I designed the snail based off the measurements for my marbles which were 15mm in diameter.

In order to print well, make sure there is supporting material beneath the head where it overhangs.

The .stl file for this snail is attached to this step.

Use the pin vice to drill two small holes in the top of the head just big enough for the end of a paperclip to fit in.

Use the wire cutters to cut two equal lengths from a paperclip about 20mm long. Use the pliers to twist the ends of the wires into spirals while still leaving a good length of straight wire.

Add some superglue to the holes and insert the wire, positioning them to the angle and direction that you want.

Add two stick on gems (or whatever you would like to use for eyes) and the look is complete.
