Match Cannon DIY

As a kid I always loved to play with fire and create different DIY games involving it. This DIY Match Cannon is very easy to make and extremely fun to launch.

Supplies

Matches (1.5 inch)

Aluminum foil

Scissors

Low candle

Clothespin

Lighter

Cut the aluminum foil to 1 by 3 inches pieces. The aluminum measurements might change according to your matches size. In general the width should be around 2 thirds of your match size.

Set 2 matches with their head facing inside on top of one aluminum piece edge and roll it, while tightening the foil on the wood with your fingers.

Continue rolling the foil until you reach halfway. Cut the rest of the foil, then clamp the aluminum around the match heads.

Your canon is ready! Hold the cannon with the clothespin and set it in a plain surface where it would be safe to launch. Make sure the angle between the cannon and the surface is around 45 degrees (pic 1). Place the candle under the cannon and when you're ready, light the candle and wait until your match is launched from the cannon.
