Mechanical Pencil Holder

Writing is a fundamental skill for communication and personal development. However, people with certain motor disabilities may experience difficulty holding and manipulating a pencil efficiently. Our project seeks to design an ergonomic mechanical pencil holder that facilitates pencil use, promoting inclusion and autonomy in writing.

The project design was carried out with the help of the CATIA program, which I support in giving it a more accurate perspective and thus being able to have input on the materials that will be used and their measurements.
Materials

The following materials were chosen to be lightweight and durable:
- 20 x 20 structural aluminum profiles
- Base support bearing carriage
- 9 x 135 mm linear guide
- Plate
- Screws

The first design was made through the use of main steel profiles, together with the use for pencil mobility, copper tubes, held mainly by adjustable tube connectors and manufactured using 6013 1/8 welding electrodes, and the base for the tubes was laid, the bases of the first advances with 3D printing of PLA material, measurements were taken from the design to fit a letter-sized sheet of paper.
