Mentos-and-Coke Propelled Skateboard

Prepare yourself for coke + mentos awesomeness!
This is an easy-to-make instructable on how to have some fun with Mentos and Coke.

Get Your Materials

• 1 Two-liter bottle of carbonated soda (preferably diet coke)
• A skateboard (or any platform with wheels)
• Duct tape
• A rubber cork/stopper (we used 15/16th inch by 3/4th inch). Available at any hardware store.
• 5 Mentos

Prep the Mentos

Tape the 5 mentos stacked together with a vertical piece of tape so that they fit in the bottle

Prep the Cork

Tape the strung mentos to the bottom of the cork.

Prep the Skateboard

Tape the bottle to the skateboard so that the neck of the bottle sticks out the back.

Insert the Mentos

With the coke facing up, unscrew the cap. Slowly insert the cork with mentos attached so that the mentos don’t touch the coke immediately.

Prep for Launch

Flip the skateboard facing the direction you want to launch while HOLDING THE CORK TIGHTLY ONTO THE BOTTLE. Shake if possible.

Watch It Launch

Release your grip on the cork and watch it launch!
