Mess-Free Plant Hacks With a Straw
Have you ever been watering your plant and instead of watering it, it just drips off the leaves of the plant? Or, you try to get close enough to the plant to get water into the pot, and instead of watering it you end up bumping a leaf off? You could also have been trying to add more soil to the pot, and you aren't able to without damaging the plant. Well, this might be a solution for you, and it's mess free! Let's get started!
Supplies
- Straw
- Water
- Soil
Plugging the Straw
First, I will show you how to add soil to your plant. Plug the top of your straw with your thumb as the picture shows above.
Collecting the Soil
Next, grab your bag of soil and thrust the straw into the soil. Make sure to keep your thumb over the top of the straw so that you don't loose the dirt that builds up on the inside.
Loosening the Soil
While keeping your thumb over the top of the straw, squeeze the front of it with your other hand to loosen the soil.
Blowing the Soil Into the Pot
Now that the soil is loose, stick the straw into the pot where you want more soil. Blow into the straw so that the soil lands in the pot.
Filling the Straw With Water
Now for watering your plant! Fill a jar full of water, and stick the straw into the water. Plug the top of the straw to hold the water inside.
Watering the Plant
While still plugging the end of the straw, stick it into the pot where you want the plant to get watered.
Releasing the Water From the Straw
Now release your thumb off of the end of the straw so that the water drips into the pot.
