Mini Paper Umbrella

These instructions will help guide you through the fun and simple process of making a miniature paper umbrella!

• Paper of your choice (colored, patterned, etc.)
• Scissors
• Glue
• Match (or toothpick)

I recommend using a cup to trace these out. The circles in this example have a diameter of 7 cm but the size can vary, as long as they are all consistent. In this example three different colors are used, so you will need three circles of each color.

To fold into a quarter circle first fold the paper up in half. Next fold the half circle to the right.

Unfold your paper circle and apply glue to half of the upper middle crease as shown in the first picture. Fold the circle back in half and apply glue to the upper left corner as shown in the second picture.

Once the glue has been applied, fold back into a quarter circle making sure to press down so the glue sticks.

You should now half nine folded and glued quarter circles.

With the curved edge of the quarter circle facing left, apply glue to the upper half, as shown in first picture. Pick the next color and press this onto the first glued quarter circle, as shown in second picture. Make sure the quarter circles are aligned properly.

Repeat the process from step five. If you are using colored paper the pattern should repeat after you have glued on the third color. Once all nine quarter cirlces are glued together it should look like the picture shown above.

Apply glue to the right side flat edge of the quarter circles, as shown in first picture. Next, apply glue to upper half of one end of the stack of quarter circles, as shown in second picture.

Finally, unfold the stack of quarter circles and glue the two ends together. You may have to separate the curved edges a bit, it should look like the picture shown above.

Glue either a match or toothpick to the bottom center of the umbrella.
