Minimalistic Bakery
I made a bakery, I chose to do this because I like the way these buildings look. When researching bakeries the majority of them had a "homey" feel to them, evoking a sense of comfort, which I wanted to replicate.
Supplies
Revit, acrylic paint, paint brushes, hot glue, hot glue gun, 3D printer, wood, and wood glue.
Identify the Problem
The problem I identified when working on this project was the criteria required to submit this.
Collect Information
When researching bakeries, I looked at popular bakeries and ones that seemed architecturally pleasing to fully grasp the necessities that come with them. Based on these findings I chose to incorporate a lot of windows and for the interior, I made most of the space filled with the kitchen/checkout counter.
Brainstorm and Analyze
My original plan was to have a kitchen in the back behind the checkout counter, but I realized this would take up too much space so I opted to combine them, I then focused on the exterior and chose to include a gable roof with dormers. To replicate the warm feeling you get from these buildings I decided to make the building out of brick with white accents. I also made the interior wall a soft color so it wasn't as harsh and out there in contrast to the rest of the building.
Building a Model
When building this project, I tried to make it as accurate to my drawing as possible. Due to a lack of room, I chose to remove one of the windows on the right side of the building and push the door more in to add depth, rather than adding it to the main front wall with windows. To replicate the beams and window shelves in front of the building, I used the model-in-place tool in Revit since these items were not available.
Finalizing My Online Model
When finalizing my piece and making renderings, I added a plant to give it a more homey feel and fill up space, in addition to the added trash cans.
Physical Model
When making my physical model, I used 3D printing, wood, paint, hot glue, wood glue, and fake grass. I 3D printed my roof and beams, but for my walls and base, I used wood. When painting I tried to replicate my original colors and keep the walls consistent.
