Model Rocket With Solid Rocket Fuel Engine

NEW YEAR SPIRIT

It's almost new year - and my son is 2 years old... However, I despise fireworks in urban areas. So many animals injure themselves because of irresponsible and sometimes illegal use of fireworks in residential areas.

However - I love science, and my son is so smart - hopefully I can ignite not only a rocket - but a love for science and engineering.

I decided to build him a rocket. But not just a bottle-rocket or a sugar-rocket. A re-usable rocket, with parachute, with an expandable platform to build future projects on like adding a camera - multi-stage, or whatever we want.

I will not include the formulas and chemistry involved - please google "rocket candy", or buy a model rocket engine suitable for this design. I do provide the dimensions and I will show how I make my engines - and there is a included cast for both the casing, and the solid rocket fuel - making up the rocket engine.

a. Rocket Body

1. PratleyⓇ Putty (Or similar, high temperature resistant clay)

c. Solid Rocket Fuel

To build the solid rocket fuel - google "rocket candy".

2. Saltpeter / Stump Remover / KNO3

Use your metal picture of a rocket as a guide - and assemble.

I have used a single sheet of newspaper and in resemblance to paper machete constructed a light(er) weight body - slightly longer - with success.

I have done various revisions - with bigger stabilizers, longer - etc. I will upload the latest design with video and STLs, etc. as soon as I am done with R&D and it all works out.
